I started this painting a few winters ago and came back to finish it this winter. It was based on a photograph I took of the entrance to Harrisville Harbor. Since this is a midwinter landscape I used a palette knife on top of my original brushstrokes to add dimension. The harbor breakwall came to life with more bold color and palette strokes. It depicts the enormity of the rocks and the receding lake during the winter. The breakwall stands tall most winters and comes up to my neck but with the receding water the breakwall looks even more imposing.
